‘Bloodbath’: Washington Post lays off hundreds of workers
The Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post is slashing its workforce by 30 per cent with major cuts including its foreign bureaus and its sports department.
A statement from the newspaper called the move a “significant restructuring” while staff have called it a “bloodbath”.
“If anything, today is about positioning ourselves to become more essential to people’s lives in what is becoming more crowded, competitive and complicated media landscape,” The Washington Post’s Executive Editor Matt Murray said.
“And after some years when, candidly, the Post has had struggles.”
