This Is EXACTLY What’s Wrong With the Comic Book Industry…
The comic book industry has a serious problem, and it’s not sales, talent, or competition from manga.
It’s the hostile environment that creators and fans are forced to navigate.
In this video, I break down a recent situation involving Marvel artist Carlos Gomez, where simply liking posts was enough for someone to publicly declare they would no longer support his work. No statements. No activism. Just a like.
This is exactly what I’ve been warning about for years.
Western comics have become a political and social minefield where creators can lose support over personal beliefs, fans are expected to pass ideological purity tests, balance is nonexistent, and fun is no longer the priority.
Meanwhile, creators in the East don’t have to deal with this, and it shows.
This isn’t about being opinionless. It’s about remembering what comics are supposed to be: fun, accessible, and for everyone.
