The recent retirement of Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilm, as well as the release of Alex Kurtzman’s StarFleet Academy, the latest in a long line of flops from Star Trek, demonstrate that both major sci-fi phantasy franchises have incurred great damage, just like everything else Disney and Marvel. But is the damage too great, or is there still a way back?
