‘A very dangerous development’: French riots could be aimed at stopping Le Pen

News24 host Samara Gill argues the unrest could be used to frighten voters away from supporting Marine Le Pen’s national rally, warning that a future Le Pen presidency could face intense pressure to crack down on demonstrators.

“This was a way for the left to show to the French people: if you vote for Le Pen, if you vote for the Rassemblement National, this is what’s going to happen,” Mr Schoellhammer told News24 host Samara Gill.

“This is a very dangerous development.

“Le Pen, if she should become president, will be in a very difficult situation because she has to crack down.”
