The Ilhan Omar investigation has taken another major turn. Fox News Digital reports that Omar’s older sister, Sahra Noor, voluntarily spoke with federal investigators last week following the search of Omar’s Washington home.
The report cites three sources familiar with the investigation, but the scope of the conversation—and exactly what Noor told investigators—has not been disclosed. Noor had previously received a subpoena and reportedly canceled a Minnesota stop on her book tour because of a “family emergency.” This is the genuinely new development: a close family member did not merely receive legal paperwork; according to Fox, she sat down and spoke voluntarily with investigators. That does not mean she confessed, flipped on Omar or supplied evidence against her. Fox News
The interview arrives as source-based reporting claims investigators obtained DNA that prosecutors may try to use while examining allegations involving Omar’s immigration history and her 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.
The New York Post reports that one source believes the DNA could help test the allegation that Elmi is Omar’s biological brother, while other sources claim the search, DNA and additional evidence could support presenting an immigration-fraud conspiracy case to a grand jury. No laboratory result has been released, the report does not identify whose samples were compared and no court has established the alleged relationship. New York Post
Omar has repeatedly denied the allegation, has not been charged and calls the investigation politically motivated. What changed today is Noor’s reported voluntary interview—not a confession, cooperation agreement or proven DNA match.
