The Mummy 4: Brendan Fraser Returns on His Own Terms
Brendan Fraser’s return to The Mummy is more than another legacy sequel. Nearly two decades after he last played Rick O’Connell, Fraser is stepping back into the role as an Academy Award winner, executive producer, and actor with far more control over how this chapter unfolds.
New filming details point toward a postwar Britain setting, with Fraser spotted shooting a rocket-car sequence while Rachel Weisz returns as Evelyn O’Connell. That reunion is especially significant because the new movie reportedly follows The Mummy Returns while moving past Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, bringing Rick and Evelyn back together for the first time since 2001.
But the real story is Fraser himself. After years of physically demanding stunt work, surgeries, personal struggles, and a long period away from Hollywood’s spotlight, The Whale launched one of the most celebrated career comebacks in recent memory. Now Fraser is returning to the franchise that originally made him a movie star.
We break down Brendan Fraser’s Mummy 4 comeback, what the apparent 1950s setting could mean for an older Rick O’Connell, and why Radio Silence filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett could be ideal choices to recapture the adventure, comedy, and horror of the original films.
