The Trump administration is suspending Microsoft and several major IT firms from the federal permanent-labor-certification program, accusing companies of abusing a pathway used to sponsor foreign workers for green cards. JD Vance says Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers while obtaining thousands of H-1B visas and green cards.
The action also covers firms including Infosys, Tata, Wipro, Cognizant, HCL, Capgemini and Adobe. This is not a blanket ban on Indian people or all H-1B hiring—it targets specific companies’ access to the PERM green-card process while the government investigates alleged fraud and abuse.
