🪐 You are entering a fictional zone: reality has been suspended.

A romantic hike in the wilderness takes a dark turn when Ness pushes her partner, a former astronaut named Tal, to confront a difficult truth by overlaying it with a cherished memory. When revealed, Ness is reluctantly forced to share a secret of her own, with world-breaking connotations. In the end, two tragic pasts shine light upon a new path forward.

🎬 Director’s Statement:
This story began as a sci-fi horror/thriller, about a man coming to terms with their death in space (a very irrational yet intense fear of mine that I’ve spent way too much time thinking about) and the robot overlord that resurrected them.

…Then I thought about the robot’s perspective.

Why is it doing this? What’s it getting out of this?

So this is Drifters. A scifi romance between two real/unreal lost beings with no purpose or people, forced to reinvent themselves and figure it out together. Tale as old as time.
