Skydance is now the name on all of it. Paramount and Warner Bros. under one roof, ticker flipping to SKYD, and a CEO who has spent a year telling anybody who’ll listen that this is a technology company that happens to make movies.
Oracle running the backend. AI in discovery. AI touching what he calls content generation, with nobody defining what that means. Two billion in cuts to pay for the whole thing. Ellison’s line has been that he isn’t afraid of technology and intends to embrace it, and that AI isn’t a replacement for creativity.

Tonight I want to get into what that actually means for people who make things for a living, because I don’t think the panic crowd or the hype crowd has it right. The consolidation worries me more than the AI does. Two studios under one owner means fewer buyers for your pitch, and that math doesn’t care what software they run.
Also worth sitting with: the studio betting the company on artificial intelligence is the same studio that owns Terminator.
