Ten injured after car ploughs into NRL grand final crowd in Wallsend
New South Wales police, government ministers, and emergency services held a press conference in Wallsend, NSW, following a serious crash on Link Road near the M1 motorway.
An 18-year-old driver lost control of their vehicle and ploughed into a crowd of approximately 1,000 people who had gathered to farewell the Newcastle Knights bus ahead of the NRL Grand Final.
Ten people were injured, including a five-year-old girl and a 67-year-old man in critical condition.
Eight others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
