‘Turned to tragedy’: Knights fans hit by a vehicle in horrifying incident

Fox Sports News Presenter Brooke East reports a vehicle has collided with Newcastle Knights fans seeing off the team bus, with multiple ambulances and helicopters responding to the scene.

“This was meant to be a very momentous weekend for the Newcastle Knights and their fans, but it’s turned to tragedy,” Ms East said.

“It’s believed at about 9:30am, a truck collided with fans who were seeing off the team bus as they travelled down to Sydney.

“Police have attended the incident alongside traffic and highway patrol. You can see there are multiple ambulances as well. A number of choppers were there as a result.

“There have been reports that the driver was allegedly doing a burnout and may have crashed into fans that way.”
