NCIS: Tony, Sam and Gibbs Are Building the Next Era
The NCIS universe is heading into fall 2026 with one of its biggest veteran-driven lineups yet, bringing familiar characters back while simultaneously launching a brand-new spinoff.
Michael Weatherly returns as Tony DiNozzo for a season-long arc in NCIS Season 24, giving the flagship series a direct connection to one of its most beloved eras. CBS has confirmed Weatherly’s extended return after his 13-season original run, with Tony arriving back in Washington, D.C. as he opens a satellite office for his private security firm.
Meanwhile, LL COOL J’s Sam Hanna takes center stage in NCIS: New York alongside Scott Caan, Jennifer Beals and a new team of agents. The new series premieres October 6 and follows Sam as he returns to his hometown and joins NCIS’s New York Field Office. Paramount+
And the nostalgia strategy doesn’t end there. Mark Harmon returns on screen as present-day Gibbs throughout NCIS: Origins Season 3, with a mystery connecting his retirement years to the Camp Pendleton story unfolding in the past.
Together, Tony, Sam and Gibbs offer three different ways for NCIS to use its history without simply recreating the past — welcoming longtime viewers back while introducing entirely new teams and stories.
