OpenAI and Anthropic CEOs asked to appear before Australian Senate inquiry

The Chief Executives of OpenAI and Anthropic have been asked to appear before a Senate inquiry in Australia.

This follows recent claims by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese regarding OpenAI agents’ involvement in a Medicare data breach.

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young is leading the inquiry and has requested that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman respond to questions publicly.

Both American technology companies are currently in discussions with the government about increased access to Australian content in return for a greater presence in the country.
