I noticed an eruption of alarm on social media regarding AI this weekend as Dario Amodei, Elon Musk and Sam Altman all agreed on the need to slow down the pace of artificial intelligence development, and open up their companies to third party evaluators. What changed all of a sudden to put all these companies on the same page? Speculation is spreading that something very scary must have happened recently.
