Franklin Richards May Be Too Powerful for the MCU
Doctor Doom’s interest in Franklin Richards may have been much more than a tease. With Noah Jupe reportedly joining Avengers: Secret Wars in an important mystery role, one theory could completely reshape what Marvel’s next era looks like: Jupe may be playing an older Franklin.
That would require a major age jump from the child introduced in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but Secret Wars is uniquely positioned to make something like that possible. Between collapsing realities, incursions, and Doom’s ability to reshape existence, Franklin could emerge from the Multiverse Saga dramatically changed.
And his comic-book abilities explain why Marvel might want him ready for action sooner rather than later. Franklin Richards has created pocket universes, fought Celestials, manipulated matter and energy, and even turned Galactus into his herald. Bringing even a fraction of that power into the MCU would put him near the top of Marvel’s live-action hierarchy.
But enormous power also creates enormous storytelling complications.
