Again, YOU’RE not the target audience
There’s an argument going around about comic accuracy in the Wolverine game, and both sides are missing the structure underneath it.
Comics and gaming ended up in the same place for the same reason. When something gets big enough, the audience stops being the people who were there first. These characters transcended the medium decades ago, and there are entire generations who grew up on them having never read a single issue. To that audience, the comics aren’t sacred source material. They’re a burden, something that gets in the way of the adaptation they actually want.
Now put a few hundred million dollars behind a game. Accuracy is not what they’ll protect. They need the widest possible audience, which means the common denominator wins and canon loses every time.
I say this as the guy who used to make those videos. The Justice League breakdown, Birds of Prey, going issue by issue on what the comics actually did and whether the adaptation held up. That was fun while it lasted. I don’t consume that material anymore, because I finally accepted I’m not the demographic. My suggestion is that you find what’s being made for you now, because something is.
