Canada withdraws from US trade deal, announces retaliatory tariffs
A new trade dispute has emerged in North America following Canada’s decision to withdraw from an agreement with the United States.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced ‘dollar-for-dollar’ tariffs in response to US President Donald Trump’s 50 per cent tariffs on approximately $US20 billion worth of Canadian goods.
Mr Trump had stated earlier in the week that a deal had been reached, but Canada raised concerns about certain terms in the agreement’s details.
