Farage resigns as MP and vows to fight by-election amid finance scandal
Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage says he will resign as an MP for Clacton, triggering a by-election which he will stand in.
The move comes as he faces growing scrutiny over his finances and two parliamentary investigations.
He is accused of failing to declare support from long-time ally George Cottrell, who was jailed for fraud in 2017, including payments for security and staff.
Mr Farage is also under investigation over an undeclared £5 million gift from a Thai-based British cryptocurrency investor.
He says the by-election will allow his actions to be judged by the people.
