Growing support for Andy Burnham following Starmer’s resignation
The UK is set for its sixth Prime Minister in seven years following the resignation of Keir Starmer.
Newly elected Labour MP Andy Burnham has already indicated he plans to challenge for the leadership, despite only returning to federal politics less than a week ago.
Former health secretary Wes Streeting was expected to put his name forward, but has now confirmed he will not run, instead supporting Mr Burnham.
Mr Burnham is the former mayor of Manchester, but resigned from that role to run in the Makerfield by-election, which he won.
