AFP Commissioner flags rising online harm from AI targeting young Australians
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett has warned of growing concerns around the impact of AI on young people in Australia ahead of her attendance at the Five Eyes agencies meeting in London.
“Ultimately, it’s community safety which is always our number one priority, but I’m really looking at how do we better work together as Five Eyes agencies but also with big tech partners to combat … the growing threats from emerging tech,” Ms Barrett told Sky News Australia.
“As we are seeing technology evolve and the pace in which it’s evolving, we are seeing increased harms, increased exploitation.
“I will keep talking about young people because that’s the most vulnerable cohort that we see in the online space.
“We’ve got to be nimble, we’ve got to lean in more.”
