‘You’re not understanding’: Andy Burnham blasts Tony Blair over modern politics

Former UK Labour leader Andy Burnham has said Tony Blair does not understand modern politics.

In an essay of nearly 6,000 words, Mr Blair criticised issues within Labour’s leadership and called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to abandon net zero targets.

Responding to the essay, Mr Burnham said it failed to address inequality, telling The Observer:

“If you don’t get how that’s driving politics now, if you are not rooting your analysis in the fact that people are unable to live and that things that were taken for granted are no longer affordable… then you are not understanding what’s going on.”
